"Shapes and Forms against the Norm...Curves and Lines of Grand Designs..."
from the song "Grand Designs" by Rush, lyrics by Niel Peart
This is where I keep my completed pictures of art gallery - I usually have two or three in the works at one time. Most are my entries into the IRTC., nothing like having a topic to focus your thoughts.
The images are created using a combination of Paint Shop Pro, Moray, sPatch, and POV-Ray. If anyone is interested in getting the source code for these, just email me ([email protected]).
I have displayed them in reverse creation order - the newest ones are at the top. Click on the thumbnail to view the picture in 800x600.
A day in the idyllic lives of the flowers and butterflies
As with almost all my entries it seems, I ran out of time - I would like to have put vines along the ceiling and added so much more green.
A common site at the end of a beautiful summer day at the beach.
I plan on using this in a composite with actual photos of my kids, give them all a older worn look, and lay it out like a page from a photo album.
Distratced by a light, he looks up from his work. Devestated he staggers back, and reaches out for his family.
This image is based on an painting by Bob Eggelton. It was my submission for the topic Horror.
Just a cool idea that my buddy Erick and I had.

This image is based somewhat on the work of Michael Whelan, who includes a dicotomy within each of his works. I wanted to blend fantasy withtechnology.
In the far flung future, water had become a scarce and important commodity, so much so that cosmic wonders such as comets are routinely destroyed to extract their H2O contents.
I really like the way the halo comes off the rock, even though in real life the tail is created many kilometres behind it.
In sub-basement 23 of Stark Solutions, Anthony Stark is working on his Iron Man helmet.
The workbench needs some more detailing, but I think the helmet is a perfect copy of the comic book version .
This is my version of the Legion of SuperHeroes Mission Monitor room. Matter Eater Lass is extremely upset because the last time the LSH went up against a SunEater, one of the Legionnaires (Ferro Lad) was killed.
After finding a font file for the LSH Interlac language on the Internet, I couldn't help but make a LSH picture. And yes that is Matter Eater LASS.
X-files-ish picture of someone's desk. The scenario is that the CIA have been spying on some ETs. Having decided that they do not pose a substantialthreat, they have kidnapped a number of them as test subjects and hostages.
This museum exhibit straddles the future and the present. The exhibit is of artifacts from the first encounter between Humans and an alien race named the Veetok. It is about 20-30 years from now, I guess.
Dr. Doom is still a work in progress(OK, I lied in the paragraph at the top, but I really like this one!). I need to work on the hand and the eyeballs.
Sailing the High Seas has always been treacherous at the best of times, but when oneof these monsters gets you in their sights, you are really in trouble.
I could not have hoped for this to turn out betterthan it did. The sea serpent/water wrym is the best single object I haveever created.
The IRTC topic was Elements, and I couldn't get the Periodic Table out of my head. I have always thought the name Noble Gases was cool, so...
My first attempt at modelling clothes...
Standing vigil, the Dark Knight looks out over his city. Moments before Commisioner Gordon activated the Bat Signal, calling out to the Caped Crusader.
I am very proud of this one. Batman has always been my favorite superhero, and I was very motivated to do this one well.
Sailing into the night, the busy merchant looks out to the open sea and once again thanks the Gods for having the Lighthouse at Alexandria to call him homeward when his work is done.
Not my best work, but hey my wife had a baby!
This is my tribute to the really bad but enjoyable science fiction from the '50s - hence the black and white TVs
This entry never made it in, I couldn't log into my ISP, and missed the deadline.
The foolish sultan, astride his flying carpet, breaks the Seal of Solomon placed on the bottle's neck. Immediately the Djinn bursts forth. The mischevious genie will soon bring havoc on his supposed master's life. How can one control the power of a Tempest?
The smoky hand is a translational sweep with a smoky texture. No halos/media!!!
The Gathering of a Storm
Taking advantage of the current storm outside, the wizard collects the requiredingredients for his own Storm making spell.
My friend Tim Stratton figured out the Lightning texture.
